RANT: The whole generation divide and the unemployment

I do find it hilarious when simpletons want to accuse the members of Generation X and Generation Y for being "lazy" in association to the economic downturn.  The national unemployment rate is now 9.8%, and the Obama administration has considered extending enhanced unemployment insurance benefits for beyond December 31st when they are set to expire.  Also tax credits for the unemployed to subscribes to COBRA health insurance, and first-time homeowners.  Somehow this is "social welfare" for the lazy, young people.  Hmmm...

Here's my hunch, after reading the ignorance behind most of these accusations you can tell it is a bunch of cranky, older, middle-class, white males talking like this.  Interestingly, they are also one of the largest demographic facing unemployment right now (behind black and Hispanic males).  Why ol', why does members of this demographic group always have to be the asshats of the American society and the beacons of ignorance?  If you want to have something profound to accuse an entire group of people of people of being "lazy", why don't you have statistics to prove your accusation.  As Jay-Z said, "people lie, but numbers don't".
