I see where you both are coming from, but sorry, you both are WRONG!

I have to say the take on the cultural appropriation of black male slang by and the discussion that followed was so ODD.  It just shows the rift that exists between the black heterosexual and black LGBTs over such simple issues.

Anyways, black LGBT author and blogger, Rashid Darden, wrote on his own personal blog, Dopalicious District, how he is perped by the usage of "black gay male slang" by black heterosexual females in everyday life and on certain TV shows. ***COUGH*** The Real Housewives of Atlanta & Married to Medicine ***COUGH***
This week’s Real Housewives of Atlanta was quite eventful, and other blogs will give you a proper recap.  For me, seeing Cynthia Bailey give Mynique Smith an “education” in gay black slang made me uncomfortable.
I am a black gay man and for years I’ve seen our culture and language appropriated by white people and by women.  On one hand, I can’t be too mad because that’s just the way culture and language works.  On the other hand, stop stealing our shit.
Darden expresses how he feels that many black heterosexual females have stolen the lingo of black gay men for their usage, but many of them are quite homophobic.

On the flipside, the blog post wind up becoming discussion of the popular black female lifestyle blog, Madame Noire, where columnist, Charling Ball, posted an extrapolated take/rebuttal on the topic.  Meanwhile, the commentator comes out on both sites (mostly black females) antagonizing Darden and other black gay males for feeling that slang/lingo was their originally.  As a matter of fact, many posters on the Madame Noire site kept refuting this about black LGBT culture:
cheekee babyUmmmm Gay black men have been fashioning themselves after black women for ages. I mean really they are walking around with purses and high heels meant for women. Hello! Too many act like sassy caricatures of black women. So he clearly needs to get over himself.
Nikia D-ShiznitSo, gay black men walk around looking and dressing like women, behaving in ways that are feminine or what they think women do.... But their language is being misappropriated? I cry why I see a limp wristed man in a dress and high heels saying "hheeeyyyy."
While others went to the usual attacks of saying this about black gay males:
lockstress: So ya'll can borrow and wear our panties but I can't say hunty??? Boo...get a cramp and complain for REAL!
Chaz : Why did this writer even take the time out to write this article? He is talking about black females using words that supposedly black gay men came up with? LOL. Wow. You don't see us black females going around talking about how much gay men wanna be women. How they go around calling themselves "girl" , wearing eyelashes, make up, weave, they get butt implants, breast implants... must I go on?
Now, I'm not here for homoantagonism nor am I here for misogyny, but this is some bullshit...

This is where I feel both are wrong because 1) Yes, many black LGBTs have taken their behaviors, manners, etc. from older black women like their grandmother, aunts, mothers, etc. so it isn't for black males to claim originally, but 2) The terminology "read" isn't from black female culture at all because that was popularized by the NYC drag queens popularized by the documentary "Paris Is Burning" and finally 3) Yes, there are some asinine black heterosexual and homoantagonist bisexual females that ridicule black gay/bisexual/transgendered males will use that particular lingo and hypocritically hate on, express strong dislike, or possess hatred for that aforementioned group.

It is not my place to take sides on this subject because my last point is poignant about the whole topic. Additionally, there is not excuse for black heterosexuals regardless of gender to possess homophobic bias or homophobia towards black LGBTs when we are all in the same boat together in this seemingly anti-black Western society.  This has to cease if we are to push forward as a culture.  Attacking black LGBTs is as unbecoming of black folks as attacking mixed raced/biracial individuals for only having 1 black parent because they don't possess 2 black parents.  Just like black LGBTs didn't ask to be born with feelings of sexual attraction towards the same gender, both genders, or gender dysmorphia about themselves is the same as those mixed race or biracial individuals being born to parents with 2 different racial/ethnic backgrounds.

Eddie Long attempts to silence his accusers with money

Well, I guess good ol' Eddie Long had decided to "keep it on the hush" rather than "fight it to the very end" as he claimed months ago before his nearly 25,000 congregation in Lithonia (Georgia).  Oh hell, oh well.  It just displays to me the burden of proof he was fucking with those males and is an ephebophile and one whom has some strong homosexual undertones to their being.

A homosexual member of New Birth speaks out...

Well, I have to give it up to Samuel Brown and his partner coming out to admit they is in a homosexual relationship.  I don't know how or why he decided to stay in that church for all those years, but more power to you.

After browsing a little bit of his blog, I can understand his logic of trying to make changes from within the institution.

UPDATE: However, I see how Rod McCullom want to make a backhanded insult and his sycophants want to call the man and his partner "church queens".  SMH, some things changes and stays the same with them...

The Trifecta of Fuckery: Eddie Long edition

WELL, WELL, WELL, WELL, WELL!  THE CHICKENS HAVE COME HOME TO ROOST AND HAS CROWED 3 TIMES!

The messiness, foolishness, and sheer madness of this whole situation has brought me out of my work/career hiatus to post. (I hope to regularly post in general)  Hypocrisy, homosexual behavior, and the black religious fold.  This is PURE UNADULTERATED FUCKERY AT IT VERY BEST!  Now where do I start.

I've been saying for years (pre-bloggging days) that foolishness ALWAYS finds it source.  Well, Eddie Long has a history of being involved in anti-LGBT foolishness from helping campaign for Georgia to ban any same-sex unions or domestic partnership in 2004 to his silly ass march in the winter of 2005 in Atlanta against same-sex unions to his rabid homophobic ranting in a good chunk of his "sermons" (if you want to call it that).  This man has been the walk body of the stereotype of homophobia in the black religious community.  Yet his stupid ass brought himself down over lust for another man, the irony.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the 3 plaintiffs (whom names I won't repeat since they are already is there for the world to see on most sites, just Google it) have said basically the same thing, Eddie Long likes to be called "Daddy", took them on lavish trips around the world, introduced them to celebs (or "popular people" in my vernacular), slept in the same bed with him, and sexual acts including masturbation, oral sex were engaged.

Now I'm going to speak on some stuff I allegedly now in vague terms since this is an ongoing case.  There are also allegations that Long has been doing this mess since the early 1990s when he first came popular in Atlanta and the black religious circles.  Things of such involving such as him taking those boys to the Atlanta Hawks basketball games and etc.

Art Franklin, New Birth's spokesperson is a former Birmingham news anchor has allegations about about him and his sexuality too (especially considering the allegations surrounding his divorce).  These are among some of the reasons why he allegedly left WBRC "FOX6" to go to Atlanta to work on his music and writing then later wind up at WBRC's former sister station, WAGA "FOX5" and now at New Birth as the spokesman.

All I'm going to say is this mess is destructive and revealing the bed of hypocrisy involving some black folks especially in the religious and church circles.  That's why I've been giving most of them the side-eye for awhile now because it shows that folks need to leave the LGBTs alone like the racially bias need to leave people of color alone...

Mudslinging Galore! Racial inneudoes and Homophobia

First Monday, Gene Adelman, the so-called "Bean Counter" on Birmingham decided to buy some ad space in the Birmingham Times and titled it "White people deserve a second chance. Vote Patrick Cooper".   Suprisely, the Birmingham chapter of the SCLC and some area ministers and pastors have called for the Bell and Cooper campaigns to denounce these racial inneudoes and tactics.  This is the kicker, publisher of the Times, James Lewis, said in the past that they have turned down ads that are "clearly vindictive, and false", but this ad was "borderline" and Adelman is well-known in the community.   However, they decided to run this because...  Sounds like to me somebody is playing sides in this and the Times doesn't like Cooper because he isn't embedded in the same cesspool of fools that have kept Birmingham stuck on neutral since the late 1980's.  Nobody is giving him a pass because Cooper has his shortfalls, but the Times' publisher isn't as objective as he claims.

Then another act came from somewhere, fliers titled "Cooper, Wrong Values, Wrong Choice" and "Cooper Won't Commit to Keeping Chief Roper", and they claim to be "Paid for by Faith in Birmingham".  The fliers peddles homophobia because Patrick Cooper supported the candidacy for Howard Bayless, Alabama's first openly gay male elected to public office, for his failed run for Birmingham City Council District 3 seat against incumbent Valerie Abbott.  The latter flier is alleging that Cooper will not keep Birmingham Police Department Chief A.C. Roper if he wins the mayoral race.  IMO, how cares in either case because anybody with half a brain will keep Roper since overall crime has been going down in the city and on Bayless there are some tacky asses that just have issues with LGBT/SGLs yet they want to scream "woo is me" all the time about this place.  Hell, LGBT/SGLs are the reason why Birmingham is gain new residents because they are the ones buying homes in the city and fixing them up.

Alright, let's be a little objective

OK, in the gay blogosphere (and some of the black gay blogosphere) there has been outrage by the comments that Sandra Bradley, now former administrative assistant of Morehouse College President Robert Franklin said about the photos of the wedding of Michael Cole and popular Minneapolis hairstyle Jamil Smith Cole.

Bradley wrote this in response to the pictures in sent it via her work e-mail:

“I can’t believe this wedding. It’s 2 men. They don’t smile in a lot of pictures and they look like a few brothers I’ve seen in the streets looking STRAGHT. Black women can’t get a break, either our men want another man, a white woman (or other nationality that’s light with straight hair), they are locked up in jail or have a “use to be” fatal disease. I’m beginning to believe Eve was a black woman and we Black women are paying for all the world’s sins through her actions (eating the apple)."
Now, I'm not condoning what she said at all because it sounds like she suffers from "Bitter Bitch/Cunt Syndrome".  If you don't know what Bitter Bitch/Cunt Syndrome is, it's a bitter ass person that is mad about not getting something that they want in life and will translate that bitterness towards others.

Black blogs like the often-contraversial Bossip posted the pictures under there "What the Hell is Wrong with These Pictures" section with over 500 comments accompanying the post (most homophic).  Am I surprised? No.   Am I outrage?  No.   Honestly, I just don't care to pay blogs like Bossip any mind because most of its frequent posters have the average IQ of  something below 100.

However, when gay media like Southern Voice's blogger Matt Schafer had swooped down upon it to say, "Look, look, it's homophobia" at a HBCU.  Now, black bloggers followed like Montgomery-native, Darian Aaron of Living Out Loud with Darian and Rod McCullom of Rod 2.0, with a tangential rant about the black community as whole.  IMO, there hasn't been a "black community" since integration when most upper and middle class blacks flocked to live in the 'suburbs'.  So I'm just like "UH YEAH" on his verbose diatribe.

On objective perspective, which I try to maintain, was this controversy worth her losing her job?  I mean Bradley should have known better for sure because the chick is a vapid bitch with no tact at all, but in these economic times you should never just "fire" somebody over something unless it is morally or ethnically reprehensible.  She should have been suspended or demoted, but not termination.  That's going way too far because in the end, it does more harm than good.

Morehouse has been catching heat from gay bloggers for not being more involved with the gay and bisexual members of the student body because the incidents like in 2002 where Aaron Price nearly killed Gregory Love for thinking he was gay or the homophobic atmosphere on Morehouse College's campus in general.  If this is attempt to bridge the divide between the black and gay community then this is in my opinion a bad start.  You have to nip it in the bud, but straight firing the woman is going to cause more adversity than resolution of the homophobia on Morehouse campus and amongst black folks in general.  One word comes to mind: CENSORSHIP which leads to silencing of any form of dialogue between people about the subject (leading to it boil below the surface).  Ironically, this is the same thing that has hurt the resolution of racism in this country at the rate things are going what is exactly going to happen with homophobia.

BEFORE ANYBODY USE THIS ANTICIPATED COUNTERARGUMENT: This situation isn't analogous as the Boston Police officer who sent out the racist e-mail calling Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. a monkey because he was a public servant of a publicly funded institution; whereas, Morehouse College is a private institution funded exclusively by alumni and private donors.  I don't tolerate discrimination (via homophobia, racism, xenophobia, classism, etc.), but some people need to realize this is going to make more enemies than friends by doing stunts like this to appease a certain few.  Also there isn't a legitimate lawsuit in the world that could have been filed against Morehouse or Ms. Bradley that would have stood a chance in hell before the court of law because it was on the grounds of 1st Amendment and freedom of speech and opinion.

SIGH!
